Case Study 1 - Anubis Close Protection Course

After completion of  13 years serving in the Royal Green Jackets and then 4 Rifles I wanted to transfer the skills gained during my time in the army into employment within the  security industry. I reviewed a number of companies home and abroad, and with sound advice from a number of friends who had recently found employment in the industry looked into the Anubis CP course.

I knew from my research that the company that stood apart from the others was Anubis Associates Limited. Right from the start I was given unlimited advice on how to go about booking the course through CTP and when the best time to start the course was prior to my leaving the forces, so I didn't waste any time holding an SIA licence but not being able to use it while still serving.

The accommodation and hospitality provided was second to none, set in a converted barn with separate classrooms it gave you an easy learning atmosphere and the comfort to relax in a homely environment. The food was of a high standard with washing and ironing facilities, the evenings were spent revising in the plush spacious living room which had a 50'' plasma and sky for entertainment.

The course was delivered by Instructors from specialist Military and Police backgrounds who have been in the industry for a long time and are still operational. All of the training was of the highest standard, backed by a wealth of operational experience from the instructors, all the aspects of the training that where covered where always related to real situations that the instructors had been in over the years giving you a real life feeling instead of just head down while copying notes from a powerpoint presentation. The tempo of the training increased but not so that the students fell behind on a previous aspect of the course and any students that did seem to fall behind in any of the modules where given extra help by the instructors in there own time.

The course culminated in a challenging final exercise where all aspects of the course were assessed. By the end of course I felt I was prepared enough for a future career within the Close Protection and security industry.

Two days after my military discharge I flew to Afghanistan as a CPO for G4S. The reference from and the association with Anubis no doubt aided me in finding employment so quickly. The instructors were always available after the course for advice and direction when I requested it, which was often, even helping to secure me an interview with a reputable company working in Iraq.

Although the training was in the UK all that was covered on the course is easily adapted and transferred to use in a hostile environment. I am happy knowing that when I decide to gain work in the UK I will still have the skill sets and knowledge on the more subtler side of executive CP, where others might find it hard to adapt having only completed a more hostile environment CP course. I strongly recommend giving this company a call and check them out.

CASE STUDY 2 - Anubis Close Protection Course

The course was a brilliant start in the Close Protection environment. Eye opening and thorough. A must for anyone thinking of moving into civilian Close Protection from a Military background.

I was impressed with Anubis, the professionalism and the friendliness of all of the instructors on the course. I appreciated the honesty and found the course to be challenging and very rewarding. The course was of a professionally high standard and students were made to feel welcomed and relaxed, yet during tests and role-play this was still judged strictly and fairly without favouritism. Instructors were very knowledgeable and had very good teaching styles to meet all needs. Excellent value for money with very factual lectures and practical exercises. I would highly recommend this course and the Anubis company as a course provider to anyone looking for a career as a Close Protection Operative. This goes in hand in hand with the quality of the food and the accommodation. Anubis’s professionalism shows through every time. I would also like to say a big thanks to the housekeepers who always look after you and always make you feel welcome.

CASE STUDY 3 - Anubis Close Protection Course

After leaving the army as a CMT1 in the medical corps, I was in and out of jobs for a year not being able to decide what path to take. After attending an interview in London, it was recommended that I complete a Close Protection Course due to my military background, medical experience and high demand for female operatives.

I searched for courses over the internet and found the Anubis CP course. What attracted me were the instructors backgrounds and the fact that they dealt with the forces and ex forces and the location of the training venue. On booking the course, the Anubis office staff were friendly and prompt with getting me on the first available course.

On arriving on the course I was impressed with the quality of the training venue and its en-suite accommodation. The rooms were cleaned daily and there were never any complaints concerning the food, excellent.

Even though I had medical experience I found it useful to do the first aid at work course as I had been out the army for a year and wanted to keep my skills up. The instruction from the medical staff was brilliant and well worth doing.

The CP course itself was taught to a very high standard. I was impressed with the quality of instruction and the time that was allocated to every subject. There was always time for revision in the evening as well as a bit of down time to relax. After every subject we would get a small progress test, this helped towards revision for the final exam. I know feel that everything taught in the lessons both classroom and practical was all relevant and straight to the point. A big help for me was the mock job interview as it gave me more confidence for the real thing as well as the CV writing.

The practical lessons where good, seeing the instructors demonstrating some of the techniques on the class was a laugh. The unarmed combat lesson I felt was important to me as a female as I learnt how to protect myself with minimal force.

We were given driving exercises, with the instructors pointing out some good driving techniques. We only had a small group of about 10 students which enabled us to get some good few hours of driving between us all.

At the end of the course there was a tested final exercise. Some parts I found tricky but I’m now glad I was put in those difficult situations as I have gained more out of it. The scenarios provided were excellent and in relevant venues.

Overall this course was to a very high standard and I would recommend it to anyone. As a female I felt extremely comfortable in every situation. I would like to say a big thank you to all the instructors particularly Ginge Johnson and Mick Billman for the follow up help after the course. They were available for any advice needed and helped me gain the experience to which I now have a full time contract with a well known highly respected security company.

Case Study 4 - Anubis Close Protection Course

Many years ago it crossed my mind to venture into the world of close protection but never took the plunge.

3 years on and a baby later I decided to give it a go, believing I could provide my family with a better life (completely wrong order of events in life, but that sums me up quite well) in the years previous I'd looked into training providers and came cross many, names; 100's in fact but the one that repeatedly cropped up was Anubis.

Determined to do a course yet very nervous about getting out of my comfort zone (after 8 years of fitness instructing) I rang the Anubis office- greeted with such help and warmth I new it was the one to go for.

The 28th of January 2009 came so quickly; the accommodation was stunning the house spectacular and the setting picturesque- it wowed, but the course was yet to begin and that was the important thing, the luxurious surroundings just a bonus.
10 students on the course from 22years to around 45years of age. 9 male, 1 female, 8military, 2 civilians.
Coming from a non-military back ground and female i would be lying if I was to say I wasn't apprehensive.

Within the first morning everyone had introduced themselves and got stuck into the subject at hand, first aid. The first aid was a great ice breaker and delivered with such humour. For those that already have a first aid qualification I'd recommend doing this one as it was totally different to previous first aid training I'd come across and a great way to learn about one another and begin working as a team before the Close Protection part starts.

The Close Protection tutors were second to none; vast knowledge, hugely respected within the CP industry and very different from each other which provided interesting points of view from different aspects of life. The course is a mixture of classroom based, group research and practical tasks; progressively becoming harder both physically and mentally. From little half hour trips out to the final exercises spanning two and half days.

At the end if the course I was enthused and keen to follow a career in Close Protection, my test results came through the post and 'passed' and my SIA licence quickly followed; within a week or two Ginge Johnson at Anubis had organised an interview for me with 'Guard Force', and a fortnight later I was in London working on a close protection task. The course had provided me with everything I needed to know and felt that all situations I came across we had talked about on the course, nothing had been left out or taken for granted.

Istarted off nervous and with little confidence; at the end off the course I not only learnt the essential skills for being out on the ground in the CP world but also invaluable life skills of confidence and worth. And for that i will always be eternally grateful to Anubis, especially Ginge.
