CASE STUDY 1 - Anubis Certified Security Consultant (CSC) Course
After 15 years in the Norwegian military, I was fortunate to start Bestia Risk Consulting together with three experienced colleagues in late 2004. On the quest to identify the best close protection competence in the market (Internationally), we came across Anubis Associates Ltd, initially recommended by a friend in the UK Special Forces community. After visiting Anubis in Hereford, a trip that resulted in choosing Anubis as our Close Protection (CP) and Executive Protection (EP) provider, I really got interested in the Certified Security Consultant (CSC) course as part of strengthening our competence internally.
I finished CSC Module 1 in March and am currently completing my Module 2 assignments, before returning to Hereford for the Module 3 later this year. The Module 1 course contains carefully selected elements put together to enable basic knowledge and understanding required to be a security consultant.
The course is impressive. I was not only impressed by the standard of the instructors, but also the structure of the course and the personal follow-up of the individuals attending. As expected from a course of this quality, the progress demands full attention from the students.
I am currently working as a consultant on a relatively large project in Africa and have already used different parts of the CSC course content in my current work. Bestia are currently looking on future attendance on the course, even the possibility to host a CSC course in Norway.
CASE STUDY 2 - Anubis Certified Security Consultant (CSC) Course
In 2005 following the introduction of the Security Industry Authority licencing scheme for Close Protection Operators I encountered Directors of Anubis Associates Limited, in a previous incarnation, as lecturers and instructors on my refresher course.
Shortly afterwards I met Stuart and Ginge again on a teaching course, this time as students. This was at the time that Anubis Associates was in gestation, and I was impressed by their attitude and dedication to its formation.
Having spent twelve years in the security industry as an operator and team leader both domestically and abroad, I was looking at various career options. The teaching qualification was one strand. The use of my experience, both military and civilian, to develop professionally as a consultant was another. At the time Anubis Associates where developing their Certified Security Consultants course in conjunction with Buckinghamshire New University as a level 5 qualification.
When the CSC course became available I was impressed by both the quality of the course syllabus and the teaching staff. A further factor was the modular nature of the course, two classroom modules sandwiching a period of distance learning. This would allow the course to be completed whilst working.
The subsequent changes that allow the distance learning module to take place simultaneously with module three were an improvement on the original design.
However by completing the second module prior to the third students would benefit from the knowledge gained during their research phase on the topic of business continuity.
I enrolled for Module 1 in January 2008, since then I've completed the third module and elements of module two. The teaching, at Anubis Associates' teaching facility near Hereford, is in small class sizes which allows the teaching staff to give each students the support they require.
The support I have received during the course has been excellent, the lead tutor encouraging and cajolling in equal measure. I hope to complete the course within the next couple of months and be amongst the first cohort of Anubis Associates taught Certified Security Consultants, a crucial step on my career progression.
As continuing professional development becomes increasingly important, I cannot recommend highly enough the Anubis Associates Certified Security Consultants course for those in the industry who wish to gain not only a worthwhile qualification but also a greater understanding of the nature of security consulting.

CASE STUDY 3 - Anubis Certified Security Consultant (CSC) Course
I have worked in the private security industry for the last ten years and seen the industry change significantly in that time namely the introduction of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and its inherent regulation of the security industry.
In my opinion this change has bought about a stronger impetuous to develop the skill sets of the personnel involved in the industry and the term CPD (continuing professional development) is one that is commonly referenced. I have undertaken various management roles predominately in static, retail and door supervision and undergone my own CPD which has resulted in being an approved skills for security trainer in several areas of the industry.
I was looking for a course to develop my own skills and to evidence the practical experience that I have gained in my management roles. I looked at a range of accredited courses for something that I felt, was relevant for me at that time and stage in my career.
I did my research into the courses on offer and narrowed my decision down to a course that would underpin my knowledge and one that I could take with me onto a degree or masters degree course. It was also very important that the course would be recognised within the industry and outside the industry.
The Certified Security Consultant (CSC) course is University accredited at Level 5 which is something that can be understood even if someone was not that familiar with the actual course content itself, especially if talking to people outside the industry. For example a business owner may require security at their office and not know that much about the industry but would understand what a ‘Level 5’ course was which could add to your own credibility. The second consideration was the capability and reputation of the company delivering the course. I telephoned Anubis, among other companies and was very impressed with the manner and professionalism of how my enquiry was dealt with and the information given. In addition to this I looked into the backgrounds of the people involved within Anubis to verify the information I gained on the telephone and to establish my own view on the competency of the training team. Needless to say I was more than happy with the competency of the trainers on the CSC course.
The CSC course is a bespoke course for those wishing to develop themselves within the industry backed by a University and delivered by a very professional, credible and effective company in Anubis. I positively encourage anyone in the market for CPD to consider the CSC course and when looking at courses consider the following points,
1) Is it relevant to you at this time and at the correct academic level
2) Is the course run by competent and credible personnel
3) Will it meet your expectations and be of use to you
I followed my own guidelines and researched the courses available and decided that the CSC was the right course, at the right time, delivered by the right company and would be very useful to continue and further may career within the private security industry.

CASE STUDY 4 - Anubis Certified Security Consultant (CSC) Course
"When I started on the Anubis CSC course I said I wanted to soak up knowledge and although you can only pass on so much in two weeks on Module 1, a lot of what was taught I have utilised already. Add that to 22 years military experience, the last 8 as a WO and the ability to learn quickly it has meant the transition has gone well.
I guess what I am saying is the CSC has played an integral part in assisting with the transition from military to private security.Your (Dave /Ade /Ginge / Geoff) insight and the core material has proved invaluable.
Paul Terry - July 2009"
