How much is the course going to cost?
The full cost of the CP Course is £3000 + VAT (January 2008 price)
and this includes all food, accommodation and the
First Aid at Work Course. A range of other course
options and charges i.e. without accommodation or
first aid training is shown on the ‘Booking
Form’ on this website.
Can I use my ELCAS or resettlement money to pay for the course?
Yes - since November 2007 we have been registered with ELCAS.
Do I need any previous experience in the security industry to successfully
complete a course?
No – our experienced and highly qualified instructors
will teach the knowledge required. Our courses are
subject to the quality control mechanisms and higher
education standards of our SIA Awarding Body, Buckinghamshire
New University (BNU).
Are the courses open to non-military personnel?
Yes – although the course attracts people with
previous military, police or security backgrounds,
non-military personnel are valued and not disadvantaged
as they bring a fresh view to the subject matter.
What kind of work is available after the course?
The opportunities for an SIA licence holder to secure
employment in the private security industry are good.
Provided a licence holder remains flexible and diverse
in the roles he or she is willing to offer employers,
career opportunities are plentiful.
What kind of pay can I expect to receive after I have successfully completed
the course?
This is dependent on the course you choose, your
previous experience and employment opportunities
/ contracts available at the time. We recommend that you
ensure you are financially flexible enough to meet your financial outgoings until
you can secure regular work post course. As a guide a SIA licensed Close Protection
Operative in the UK can expect to be paid between about £120 to £200
per day with a team leader earning up to £350. It is worth remembering
that a CP licence also entitles you to legally work in other SIA regulated sectors
including manned guarding and as a door supervisor.
Are you a reputable company?
Over the last two years we have been working quietly
in the industry to build our reputation as a quality
company and training provider. We have taken our
time to ensure that we are financially secure and
to listen and take advice from all the private security
industry stakeholders. This has begun to pay dividends
in terms of quality of the courses as well as the wealth of experience of all
the instructional and support staff. We are
constantly working to ensure our professional standards
are maintained and developed. We are now winning
substantial contracts and starting to develop further
opportunities that our professional approach has
afforded us. We believe that investing your time
and money with us will leave you with a positive
experience and you will share in our success.
Can I expect any help with finding work post-course?
Many training providers claim to guarantee work to
students after a course has been completed. Anubis
advice is to be wary of sweeping statements like
this. You can be assured of professional advice and
students who undertake our CP course are given training
in writing CVs and preparing for that all-important
employment interview. As contracts allow there will
be opportunities for Anubis graduates to be considered
for future employment.
Do I need any previous qualifications or skills to apply?
No – but for the CP course you do need a full
driving licence for the practical elements of the
course undertaken in the public domain. The CSC course
is more suitable for someone looking for a consultancy
or management role in the private security industry,
therefore some previous management experience is
desirable.
Is the course pass or fail?
Yes – the CP course has two different types of examination /
assessment. One is the SIA close protection licence
to practice theory examination consisting of a combination of multiple
choice and free-text questions. The second is an assessment of close
protection practical skills mainly undertaken in a role-play environment.
In order to pass the course it is a requirement that students pass
both the written examination and the practical assessments.
Is there any recommended reading?
There are numerous books for sale on close protection
but their quality varies tremendously. There tends
to be an over-emphasis on training for hostile environments
or the use of firearms which does not accurately
reflect the needs of the UK license area. Geoffrey
Padgham, Anubis, Director of Training has written
a book on the softer skills of executive close protection,
a synopsis of which can be viewed at www.etbooks.co.uk and
click on the ‘Security’ category.

How do I know that I am not going to spend a lot of money and fail or not
find work afterwards?
Our interests are the same as yours and we work hard
to ensure that the course is right for applicants
by running seminars and answering any questions from
potential students before they invest with us. You also need to be
realistic and explore what you can give to a course and what you expect
a course to offer in return.
Will I gain a recognised and worthwhile qualification?
Yes – all our courses are accredited by a UK
based university as well as many other industry related
bodies. See the Anubis website for more information.
Is the course suitable to people for whom English is not their first language?
Yes – but our courses are taught in English
and you will need a working knowledge of the English
language for oral communication, reading and writing.
The SIA have issued guidance that training providers
should not teach English as part of SIA licence to
practice courses and no assistance is provided in
any of the examinations. We can however provide educational
guidance for students who may need to improve their
command of the English language prior to attending
one of our courses. If in doubt ask.
Is the course suitable for people with learning difficulties?
All our instructors are fully qualified to teach adults
and are able to offer professional guidance to people with learning difficulties.
We would need to know of your particular difficulties in advance of the
course in order to support your individual needs. If in doubt just ask
and be assured we guarantee the strictest confidentiality.
What is the success rate of the CP and CSC courses?
94% of students from end of year 2007 successfully completed the CP course and have already found employment in major FTSE 100 listing & other blue chip companies as well as Governmental organisations.
Of the students who have already completed the CSC course, 91% have successfully graduated and are currently employed in their chosen field.
